Effects of hydrogen-rich water baths on visceral fat and skin spots 2022-06-22
We aimed to study the effects of hydrogen-rich water baths on improving skin beauty, inhibiting visceral fat, and activating cholesterol and glucose metabolism.

The subjects were two men and two women, aged 48, 43, 42 and 41 years old. Exclusion criteria were the incidence of certain diseases, dropping out of school during the daily hydrogen bath examination, or taking some antioxidant supplements. The study was officially approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of the Japan Anti-Cancer Center in 2016, with the approval number 15C1. Under the conditions of non-invasive research such as no bleeding, painless treatment, and no traces/marks, the study was approved by the Japan Anti-Cancer Center using commercially available instruments. Medical Ethics Committee approval. -Aging Medicine, and officially certified by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government of Japan. All participants provided informed consent.

Premium SPA type PSP0001 (Sanyu Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan) was used to generate hydrogen gas bubbles through equipped electrodes into a bathtub filled with 180-200 L tap water. A washbasin for facials is also fitted with hydrogen bubbles.

The DH concentration was 300–175 μg/L, which decreased to 70 μg/L after boiling for 15 min and remained at 70 μg/L; in contrast, the DH concentration of tap water decreased to < 10 μg/L). The redox potential (ORP) was –115 mV to –79 mV (compared to +494 mV for tap water).

The subject was a 43-year-old man with extensive spots on the left cheek. The bulges of the spots are neither prominent nor symmetrical. Since the spots are located near the cheekbones, they are presumed to be age-related pigmented spots. The subject immersed his left cheek in warm (40°C) hydrogen-rich water using a washbasin for 15 minutes 3 times a week for 7 months. In addition, he immersed his left cheek in hydrogen-rich water at room temperature for 10 minutes once a week.

Reduce spots on legs
The subject was a 41-year-old female with numerous extensive mottled stains on her left calf. She immersed her left leg in a warm (41°C) hydrogen-rich water bath for 10 minutes once a day for 1 month.

The subject was a 48-year-old woman with a spot on her right hand. Additionally, the subject's skin has been dry, and her back and breasts have developed pimples for many years. She immersed herself in a warm (41°C) hydrogen-rich water bath for 10 minutes once a day for 1 month.

Improve visceral fat
The subjects were a 48-year-old man and 41- and 42-year-old women with excessive weight gain and large waistlines. They immersed their bodies in a warm (41°C) hydrogen-rich water bath for 10 minutes once a day for 3 months. Subjects underwent specific health checks at the hospital before and 3 months after the test. Visceral fat was examined using an ultrasound resonance-based DualScan (Omron Healthcare Co., Ltd., Kyoto, Japan). 10 , 11

Improve cholesterol and glucose metabolism
The subject was a 41-year-old female. She immersed her body in a warm (41°C) hydrogen-rich water bath for 10 minutes once a day for 6 months. Subjects underwent specific health checks at the hospital before the test and at 3 and 6 months after the test. Do blood chemistry tests to check for high and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and fasting blood sugar.

During these examinations, the subjects did not change their daily habits, including dietary content and exercise, except for the use of a hydrogen-rich water bath.

Time history test of water characteristic parameters in hydrogen-rich water
For the high concentration hydrogen-rich water bath, put 6L of tap water into the washbasin and electrolyze for 30 minutes. Before boiling, DH and redox potential (ORP) were 300 μg/L and –115 mV, respectively. After boiling the hydrogen-rich water, four water parameters (DH, dissolved oxygen [DO] concentration, ORP, and pH) and electrolysis time were measured. Measurements are taken after returning to normal temperature, after 1 hour, after 3 hours, after the longest possible time and after 24 hours.

As for returning to normal temperature, two methods (quick and natural cooling) were used, and the effective one was measured 3 times.
