As the market for hydrogen-rich water devices expands, industry associations and testing bodies are accelerating the formulation of technical and safety standards, raising market entry thresholds to safeguard consumer and pet wellness.
Catalyzed by the adoption of hydrogen health concepts, a wide range of hydrogen water bottles, dispensers, and pet fountains have entered the market. However, a lack of unified early standards led to varying product quality, with lower-end models struggling with low hydrogen dissolution, heavy metal leaching, and rapid cell degradation.
To foster sustainable industry growth, technical standards committees—alongside leading enterprises and testing centers—formally launched the development of Technical Requirements for Consumer Hydrogen Water Generators and Safety Specifications for Smart Pet Hydrogen Fountains. The standards delineate clear thresholds for minimum dissolved hydrogen concentration (in ppb), heavy-metal-free electrode certifications, long-term gas retention, and food-grade material safety.
Industry analysts suggest that formalization will eliminate low-quality, concept-driven products, steering resources toward technology-driven companies with proprietary patents and manufacturing precision. This will safeguard consumers while marking the maturity of the hydrogen health sector.
